This pattern produces a bear's head about ¾ inch / 2cm across.
You will need 3" (7.5cm) square of special miniature bear fabric, 2 x 1mm black beads, sewing thread & needles to sew the parts together, embroidery thread for the nose & mouth, polyester or kapok stuffing or cotton wool.
Print out the pattern, making sure that the square is the size shown. Cut out the pattern pieces and draw round the pieces on the back of the bear fabric, paying attention to the nap of the fabric, (marked on the pattern). Cut out on the lines with sharp scissors. Seams should be back stitched and approximately 2mm from the marked edge.
Start by sewing the two head pieces together from the nose down, under the chin, to the front of the neck. Sew in the head gusset starting from the nose for each side. Leave open between the marks.
Turn the head inside out and stuff firmly, ladder stitch the opening closed neatly. Sew the pairs of ear pieces together, turn them inside out and sew them on to the head.
Use black embroidery thread to create a nose and mouth with the character desired. Sew on the eyes using double thickness thread, anchoring the thread at the base of the neck.
You could mount your bear's head in a circle of petals or give him an extravagant ruff of ribbon or lace.
Now sew it on to a tie-pin or brooch pin or hair slide or hat pin
or
make two and sew them on to a pair of earrings or cufflinks
or
join two with a loop of elastic to make a pony tail bobble
or
make lots and sew on snap fasteners to decorate a jacket or blouse
or
make a bunch of teddy blooms
or
stick one on a card and send to a fellow arctophile.
